Strength in numbers
Cooperativa Italiana Catering is a
project launched in May 1999 as an
initiative of some companies scattered
throughout our country, whose
number has grown over the years. As
is known, Italy is the country of the
Thousand villages and a thousand
steeples, or to be exact it is a place
with profound differences depending
on the region under examination.
Despite this, the products with the
brand CIC-Qualitaly, Tavola Viva,
Utility, Il Gelo, La Carne, La Carta e
Friggiqualital - manage to meet the
needs of the
ho.re.caoutlets in equal
measure from north to south. It may
seem like a trivial concept, but it is
really important to reflect on such a
positive and choral consensus.
The question then is, how did we
manage to get this result? Well,
our most important effort is the
continuous monitoring of the needs
of our customers, accompanied
by the exhausting search of the
best producers, our partners in the
creation of the CIC range. A complete
range, attentive to the needs of the
most varied outlets, but above all that
takes into account all the requests of
the customers.
As we know, the modern consumer is
much more demanding and informed
than at one time. ‘Going out’ has been
reduced because of the economic
crisis. Today you go to dinner out
with an increasingly attentive eye on
the quality-service-price ratio.
In addition, there are new categories
of customers to be satisfied: the
intolerant, the coeliacs, the vegans, or
simply those diet-attentive, who also
wish to eat healthily at the restaurant,
with quality ingredients, without
modifiers or similar.
In short, doing our job today is
much more complicated than at one
time. The strength of CIC is in unity.
Ours is a group that works ‘with one
voice’ with great enthusiasm and
collaboration. We share successes and
failures and, probably, it is this which
makes us stronger.

Food. The new trends
In a sector like agrifood, always
at the center of the scene and not
only in Italy, a healthy comparison
between consumers and operators
is important to align expectations of
the first with the intentions of the
second. And the next TUTTOFOOD
fair (at Fieramilano from Monday 8th
to Thursday 11th May) will surely be
the opportunity to make the point
on the food sector both in Italy and
globally.
Waiting for this important event, the
IPSOS research company has carried
out an investigation to understand
how far the trends identified by the
operators correspond to the desires of
consumers.
The results are clear: the organic
boom will continue. A trend
that seems unstoppable: 39% of
consumers indicate this category as
the one that will increase its weight
in the next 5 years. The focus in the
future will be concentrated mainly on
two aspects: price, indicated by 56%
of consumers, and quality, indicated
by 50%. Also very important will be
the ingredients used (44%) and trust
of the country of origin (44%).
In short, we are faced with data that
reassures our cooperative and that we
find ourselves absolutely aligned with
our continuous work of refinement of
the CIC brand product range.
The results are obvious, all members
continue to get wide consensus and
there are increasingly numerous
customers who choose Cooperativa
Italiana Catering as their unique
