DIC.-JAN. 2016

VI

will be clear. What will it be there for?

A technology-university dedicated to

innovation, a large research center on

nutrition, genomics, big data, eco-

sustainability: all disciplines that should

improve human life 2040. The state is

ready to invest 150 million euro a year

over the next 10 years: the promised

Prime Minister Matteo Renzi visiting

Milan last November.

The first 1,600 researchers could already

occupy April structures close to the

Tree of Life, which will be set up “light

laboratories.” But to fill those million

square meters it could take until 2023.

Among the projects there is a park

about half of the site, sports equipment,

a campus of the State University for

the scientific faculties, with residences

for students 1000/1500. But also a

“mini Silicon Valley” for companies

and technology start-ups, advocated

by Assolombarda, and the agri-food

research center of the Ministry of

Agriculture. With the theme of Expo,

supply and sustainability, the center, as

it is hoped the minister Maurizio Martina

“the area has a narrow consistent with

the theme, because we can not make

a generic technology park, we must

focus our efforts on a theme of the

border where we can make a difference

compared to other countries. “

But all seem to agree on one point:

“The area of Expo Milano 2015 must not

become our regret, must be the starting

point for Italy to come.”

Word of the Prime Minister, Matteo

Renzi.

Five formats and an idea of catering

to spend “out” too

Almost one in five visitors stopped

at one of 17 restaurants or three

refreshments CIR Food, that Expo has

brought his experience of cooperative

engaged in catering that annually serves

80 million meals prepared by chefs and

1200 with 11 thousand employees.

We asked the president Chiara Nasi,

what legacy Expo that he left to the

cooperative.

“At Expo it has been reflected not

only the way we do catering, but also

our vision for the food, which is not

only food, but also culture, ethics and

rights. We go out strengthened from

this experience, which was a unique

opportunity to reflect on these issues.

After this event, we will follow with

even more conviction the path taken in

recent years.”

How they have behaved the five new

format used on site (Tracce, Chiccotosto,

Let’s Toast, Viavai, Aromatica)? “Within

the exhibition site we recorded a

substantial balance between the formats.

The difference was mainly the location

of the premises to the main roads of

transit: those along the Decumanus (the

main street of Expo) achieved better

performance than the others. Also,

the restaurants free flow Traces, the

café-bars and quick service restaurant

Chiccotosto Let’s Toast have attracted

on average a younger crowd, while

the quick service restaurant ViaVai and

restaurant with waiter service Aromatic

a slightly more mature. The goal is to re-

launch in Italy the formats proposed in

Expo 2015 in commercial, participating

in tenders for the catering services of

major concessions and spreading these

premises in the heart of the city that

best suit the new store signs.”

Tourism, where are

you going?

In the face of crises and international

threats, what is the hotel industry

expected in the next few months?

Forecasts are difficult to make, but

some signs for optimism pushes.

By Fabrizio Gomarasca

After the undeniable success of the

public of Expo and the summer season,

thanks to the conjunction of favorable

weather and a recovery of confidence

in Italian, has restored the smile to

thousands of workers - up by more than

20% of the arrivals only in the seaside

resorts, but the data are positive also for

different age of tourism, head to luxury

estimated by Federalberghi growing

between 10 and 20% over the previous

year - the entire resort community

wonders whether this small boom will

continue.

Especially as the situation of crisis and

war in the Mediterranean and Middle-

Eastern aggravated, as regards Europe,

the tragic events of Paris in November,

puts a series of serious impediments

on the tourism industry. But, as is

increasingly the case in our time, the

signals and the signs are mixed.

The Giubileo in Rome, for example, has

been interpreted, from the moment of its

announcement, as a kind of continuation

of the Milan Expo. But after Paris

estimates arrivals have been geared to

the downside.

“After the events in Paris - said Giuseppe

Roscioli, President Federalberghi Rome

- we’d be happy to confirm the figure of

2015”. Indeed Roscioli talks on the basis

of a flurry of cancellations, coming in

particular from Japan, China and Korea,

and especially about the Group, so that

the estimates of 33 million pilgrims

arriving in Rome seem, today, too

optimistic.

However thanks to the fact that

the Italian system has emerged

strengthened, in terms of image, the

adventure of Expo, the information

gathered at the beginning of the winter

season already gave some positive

indications. To bridge the Immaculate

the feedback, when forecasting,

Federalberghi speak of an increase of

12.9% of Italians who have spent at least

one night out of home, of which 97% in

Italy. “It is a sign of unequivocal desire

to respond to the climate of fear that

hangs over the world,” was the comment

of the President of Federalberghi,

Bernabo Bocca. “Considering it’s time

to alert both the safety level is kept to

the international economic - explained
