wine it is able to express high quality

products, with a strong personality

and great development potential. The

phenomenon is still in its infancy, but

the Lombard reds will represent one of

the most charming surprises that Italy

wine will be able to express nationally

and in key export in the years ahead. To

date, the most important wine region of

Lombardy for the reds is undoubtedly

the Valtellina, in its northern area,

characterized by mountain viticulture,

including terracing and manual harvests.

REDS from Valtellina, Valtellina

Superiore and Sfursat, are Nebbiolo

grapes based, locally called

Chiavennesca, then red suitable for

long aging, but of course marked with

a cooler than Barolo and Barbaresco.

In particular Sfursat, vinified from

grapes left to dry, has a complex nose

and roundness on the palate alcoholic

making it one of the most important

Italian red. Oltrepò Pavese, land of

sparkling, red has been seen for years as

a common wine for home consumption:

today this wine region is emerging

interesting labels, made from grapes

Barbera, Pinot Noir and Cabernet,

together with local Croatina, Uva Rara ,

Vespolina.

Also good signs from Garda and the

other small denominations of Brescia

(Botticino, Capriano del Colle, Cellatica),

while the growth trend that is covering

the Lambrusco is also affecting the

Mantovano, made north of the river

Po, with its unique characteristics that

differentiate it from the more famous

cousin Emilia.
