But what is most interesting for our category is that Coldiretti predicts that more than one third of tourist spending will go on eating, to the tune of more than 15 billion euro for meals in restaurants, pizzerias, trattorias or farmhouse restaurants. Food is therefore the most important item in the summer holiday budget, so much so that - Coldiretti emphasises - it has become the main reason for travel for many tourists, with a boom in food and wine tourism. In short, these are numbers that on the one hand enthuse us, but on the other hand must lead us to do our job as ‘consultants’ to the public even better. This is also where our Cooperative comes in. Our customers will be facing a very complex period; our job, therefore, must be to provide high-quality and high performing products. Now is not the time to take risks: let’s rely on our Qualitaly brand without ifs and buts, with the certainty of giving our customers a good, dependable product that needs no introduction! By Giuseppe Di Maggio Councilor of Cooperativa Italiana Catering AT PAGE 6 #CICMEUP Happy Birthday Qualitaly! QUALITALY BLEW OUT ITS THIRTY CANDLES, AND EXPRESSED ITS WISH. THE HISTORIC COMPANY BRAND WAS CELEBRATED BY ITS MEMBERS IN A MARVELLOUS LOCATION IN PALERMO 9/10 June 2023: training, information, discussions, but also sharing and conviviality enriched the CIC trade event that celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Qualitaly brand with members and suppliers. The impeccable and welcoming host was the city of Palermo. Enveloping and warm, it received its guests, enlivening and warming the atmosphere. The Conca d’Oro, surrounded by mountains and overlooking the sea. A cultural crossroads of inestimable value that transfers tradition and history to its guests. Transformist Palermo, at sunset it animates a noisy nightlife. The Di Maggio family did the honours. It is well known that Palermo life is a public affair and Giuseppe and Salvatore shared the most evocative and authentic glimpses of their reality with their fellow adventurers. Just like Palermo, the Cooperative’s business events have a dual soul. The days are organised to balance work and leisure, training and entertainment. Training takes place mainly in the classroom. Members are engaged in a full immersion of food culture, technical insights into food handling and product testing. Entrepreneurs and companies tell their stories through their products, transferring the necessary know-how to pass on to CIC members and, through them, to users, the value enclosed in Qualitaly packages. Food is always the underlying theme of our meetings. What defines us is our ability to pass on to our customers the quality of the ingredients we select and how best to use them in their kitchens. This is why training at CIC is continuous. Select and transfer by forming a value chain that is distributed all the way to the end customer. And it is the chain itself that is part of the training. So, outside the classroom, we play seriously to strengthen each link by starting a treasure hunt to the last clue, like: “Everyone can open it but no one knows how to close it”; a ‘role game’ where all members work together sharing insights with a few healthy laughs along the way. This renews the pleasure of working together, as a true team, which is the broadest expression of what happens in the Cooperative every day. And this is how the participants all feel like winners, because knowing how to work as a team seems more difficult to conceive than to do, thus returning to our clue the ‘egg’, of Columbus in this case. TEAMWORK WITH FUN The time has come to celebrate and training gives way to the conviviality of the table. Together again, and this time at dinner. The table unveils all the typical local flavours that transport members to the festive atmosphere of Palermo. Work thus gives way to chatter and laughter, and good humour is savoured in purity until the climax of the event is reached. Drum rolls and soft lights for the entrance of the birthday cake. Happy birthday Qualitaly! A collective breath because Qualitaly is the brand of all the members and everyone’s wish is for the common project to be affirmed as soon as possible. And that is why there’s the commitment to make it increasingly known!
