We travel to deliver goods, to meet new suppliers, to look for points of sale to serve, to visit trade fairs, to meet colleagues and establish which processes to put in place to be more effective in the market. The journey as a metaphor for life itself. A life that flows, more or less quickly, and that leads us all to the same destiny. But what matters is what you sow during this journey. The path taken by our former president Italo Nebiolo, who left us a few weeks ago after a long illness. Our cooperative owes him a great deal. Italo accompanied us for 15 years through a wonderful journey made of small and large conquests, sacrifices and great insights. As President of Cooperativa Italiana Catering, he gave depth and elegance to a sector often underestimated, such as the supply of goods. The value of the ranges, mixed with the continuous search for quality, are the make or break of a public business. There is no “place” where you do not invest in the quality of the ingredients. And Italo Nebiolo knew that well. He (together with the other members of the Cooperative) was responsible for insisting on the CIC brand product, which has been the keystone of the success of our Cooperative. Today Italo is no longer with us, but his absence is filled by the legacy that has left us and that in recent years has allowed us to build a solid and cohesive base to go forward. In this editorial, I express the regret at his death, first and foremost, by President Murgia, who has taken over the baton since 2015, continuing his work in the manner of that sown by Nebiolo, but also by all the other members of the Cooperative who say their goodbyes to Italo and their regards to his family, specifically his daughter Sara, who - we are sure - will continue to manage Nov.Al with the same spirit that accompanied her father throughout these years. The world of food met last October at the Sial in Paris, one of the most important international fairs for our sector. Over 7,000 companies from more than 100 countries presented their products to thousands of visitors. Italy was one of the 80 nations which took part in the event with its 800 exhibitors (in second place per number of participating companies), who travelled to the French capital to make the excellences of our country known.
